How it works

• This tool is for cultural research, not a basis for decisions. It does not assign auspiciousness ratings or scores.
• The Five Grids method comes from modern Japanese name numerology associated with Kumazaki Ken’o around the early twentieth century. It is not a classical text. This tool uses only its personality number: the last character of the surname plus the first character of the given name.
• Strokes follow the older written forms and radical conventions in the Kangxi Dictionary: 氵 counts as 4, 艹 as 6, left 阝 as 8 and right 阝 as 7. Simplified Chinese is converted to traditional forms and modern Japanese forms to older forms. The numerals one through ten count by their numerical values. Results may differ from sites counting modern character shapes.
